Privacy Policy
This explains what we collect when you use techinks.com, why, and what you can do about it. It describes what the site actually runs, not a template.
Who is responsible
TechInks is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact support@techinks.com with any privacy question, or use the privacy choices form to make a formal request.
What we collect
When you order
Name, email, phone, billing and delivery addresses, order contents and value. We need these to take payment, ship equipment and handle returns and warranty claims.
When you create an account
Email, password (stored hashed — we cannot read it), order history, saved addresses and wishlist.
When you contact us or use chat
What you write, and the email address you write from. Chat conversations are stored so a colleague picking up the thread can see what you were told.
When you subscribe or enter the contest
Email address, and for contest entries the link, caption and details you submit.
Automatically, as you browse
IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site, and interactions such as adding to cart. See cookies.
Payment details
Card numbers are entered directly into our payment providers and never reach our servers. We store only the last four digits, card type and authorisation result, which is what we need to match a payment to an order and process a refund.
Where an order is paid by an instalment provider, that provider becomes a controller of the data you give them under their own policy.
Who we share it with
- Payment providers — Stripe, PayPal, Afterpay, Affirm, Lemon Squeezy and Ziina, depending on the method chosen.
- Carriers, to deliver your order and let you track it.
- Suppliers, where equipment ships directly from the manufacturer. They receive the delivery address and order contents, nothing more.
- Email and messaging services we use to send order updates and, if you asked for it, marketing.
- Analytics and advertising platforms named in the cookie policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. Some advertising cookies may count as "sharing" or "selling" under Californian law; the privacy choices form lets you opt out.
Session recording
We use Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used — mouse movement, scrolling, clicks — and can replay a session to show us where a page confused someone. Recordings mask text you type into form fields, including payment fields. You can switch this off with the analytics toggle in cookie settings.
AI features
Our chat assistant is AI-backed. What you type is sent to a language-model provider to generate a reply, and conversations are stored so we can answer follow-ups and improve the answers. Do not send card numbers or passwords in chat — we will never ask for them there.
How long we keep it
Order records for as long as tax and warranty obligations require — seven years for financial records, and at least the two-year warranty period for equipment. Account data until you delete the account. Chat transcripts and marketing lists until you ask us to remove them or a subscription lapses.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correction of anything wrong, deletion, or an opt-out of sale and sharing. Use the privacy choices form or email us. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these.
Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
International transfers
We operate from the United States and our providers may process data there and elsewhere. Where data moves out of the UK or EEA, it is transferred under the safeguards those regimes require.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed. Access to order data is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Children
This is not a site for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post any update here. Material changes will be flagged on the site rather than made quietly.
